Monica Cabbler

monica cabbler pictures

Monica Cabbler is an American track star whose disciplines are the long jump and triple jump. She's currently working her way toward the Beijing Olympics. She's a very busy girl, our Monica: She serves on several USATF committees (athletes advisory council, site selection, women's development); she's vice-chairman for women's track and field with the Georgia athletic commission; she's on the executive board of the University of Georgia's Athletics Alumni Association; has her own marketing company, Cabbler & Associates; is a motivational speaker and corporate spokesperson. All that on top of her training regimen. Makes me tired just reading it.

While in college at Georgia, Monica was an All-American and Academic All-American, as well as Homecoming Queen. Check out MonicaCabbler.com for more info.

Drea Avent

drea avent pictures
San Antonio is a great city. Among the many joys of living here is getting to hear the sports news from Drea Avent. Yep, Drea is a sports reporter (and occasional sports anchor) for KABB-TV, a k a FOX 29 in San Antonio.

Drea is a California native who graduated from Long Beach State with a major in Broadcast Journalism. Shortly after graduation, she headed to Texas and a job as sports reporter/photographer for a 24-hour news channel in Houston. After a year there, she made her way to San Antonio's Fox affiliate, where she reports on sports for both the morning and evening newscasts. We're hoping she stays in San Antonio for a while ...

Gabrielle Reynolds

gabrielle reynolds pictures
Gabrielle Reynolds is a Texas girl who spends most of her time these days in New York and Los Angeles. That's because she is - no surprise - a model.

But before Gabrielle became a model, she was an athlete, spending 12 years on the track. As a junior, she was ranked 12th in the nation in the 100 meters and 18th in long jump, and competed at the National Junior Olympics. As a collegian at Clark University in Atlanta, she ran the 100, the 100- and 400-meter hurdles, and the relays, and also competed in long jump. In her last three years in college, she competed in heptathlon at the conference championships, and in 2004 was an All-American in the 100 hurdles.

Gabrielle took up modeling in her junior year at college after being "discovered" in a talent search in Atlanta. In addition to her runway work, Gabrielle has garnered magazine covers and her ad work includes major campaigns such as Estee Lauder. She's also branching out into acting, landing small roles so far in "Entourage," among others.

Kristen Mann

kristen mann pictures
After completing her collegiate career at UC-Santa Barbara - where she was Big West Conference Player of the Year in the 2004-05 season - Kristen Mann was the 11th overall selection in the 2005 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx. And Kristen spent her first three WNBA seasons in Minnesota, while also playing in the French professional league, the LFB, for Tarbes GB. It was while in France earlier this month at Mann learned she'd been selected by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA expansion draft, so it's on to Atlanta for next season.

Nothing to Cheer About

I was going to celebrate the Giants' Super Bowl win by posting some pics of their cheerleaders. But then I go to Giants.com and find this:

Where can I find information regarding cheerleaders?
The Giants do not have a cheerleading squad. We have always felt that the game should be the focus of the day of game presentation.

What the??? No cheerleaders? The game should be the focus? What kind of commie talk is that? It's almost enough to make me regret the Giants' victory. But not quite. Especially after watching that classless jackass Bill Belichick run off the field and hide before the game had officially ended.

So instead, I'm left having to run this artist's rendition of a hot Giants babe. Pretend it's anime and quit yer whining.
